Job Description For: Director of Programs

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Classification:  Supervision

Job Summary:  The Director of Programs performs program oversight and supervisory work.  An employee in this classification is responsible for the day-to-day work performed by the Program Specialists and Program Managers.  This position is exempt from overtime.     

 Preferred:   At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role

 At least 2 years of experience working with individuals with an intellectual disability and/or Autism Diagnosis. 

Requirements: Valid Driver’s License

Pass a background check 

Be a U.S. citizen

Master’s Degree or above from an accredited college or university in the human service field with 1 years of experience in administration.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the human service field with 2 years of experience in administration.     

Job Responsibilities:

Ø  Process referrals and facilitates admissions for intellectual disability services in collaboration with agency Nurse, BSP, and Clinical Supervisor.   

Ø  Oversees all intellectual disabilities program functions, which includes supervision of program specialists, responsible for program oversight.

Ø  Plans, organizes, and directs large community based residential programs and community-based services.

Ø  Responsible for onboarding, orientation, training, and evaluating of supervisory employees.

Ø  Provides direct consultation to program specialists, program managers, and direct care staff.

Ø  Participates in budgeting and monitoring of expenses for the agency. Authorizes expenses as requested by program specialist or program manager.

Ø  In coordination with the CEO and Director of Quality Assurance implements and enhances new programs and services.

Ø  Evaluates the effectiveness of services and implements changes where needed.   

Ø  Ensures compliance with 6100, 6400, and 6500 regulations along with updated ODP requirements communicated through bulletins and communication.    

Ø  Ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures as it pertains

Ø  Updates and disseminates inter-agency information as well as information from external stakeholders.

Ø  Assists in ensuring the health, safety, and wellness of all individuals receiving services through Futures.  

Ø  Facilitates effective program meetings with program specialists and applicable agency employees.

Ø  Facilitates trainings as necessary. 

Ø  Monitor agency team/committees Vision and productivity.

Ø  Works in collaboration with Futures’ clinical team.

Ø  Attends team meetings as necessary.

Ø  Maintains effective working relationship with families, SCO, AE, ODP, DDTT and all external stakeholders.

Ø  Completes 24 hours training per year, including mandatory training and training assigned by your immediate supervisor or administration.

Ø  Provides support and problem-solving techniques to Program Specialists and subordinates.

Ø  Performs evening, weekend, and holiday on-call duties.

Ø  Performs annual performance evaluations for subordinates

Ø  Maintain certifications as assigned by your immediate supervisor or administration.

Ø  Maintain an effective working relationship with human resources

Ø  Complete required documentation in agency approved electronic health record and ensure compliance of agency policies pertaining to documentation and Futures’ electronic health record. Review documentation completed by program manager and direct support professionals

Ø  Acts as a liaison between other inter-agency departments.

Ø  Completes all related tasks as requested by immediate supervisor.

Medical Physical: Director of Programs is required to get a pre-employment physical and a physical with a Mantoux

TB test every 2 years.

Working Conditions: Employee in this position may be expected to work evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays   Employee supports individuals on a regular basis who have an intellectual disability and could have co-occurring mental health disorders that present with challenging behaviors including physical and verbal aggression, self-harm, and property destruction.  The employee is occasionally exposed to individuals who have the potential to be carrying a communicable disease.
