Job Title: In-Office Phlebotomy (IOP) Billing & Internal Communications Coordinator
Job Summary:
The IOP Billing & Internal Communications Coordinator is an important role, the primary responsibilities include facilitation of specific data entry into our EHR/PM software, specific workflows while acting as the liaison between the Billing Department, customer service, patients, providers and field services. Aids and answers to office staff. The IOP Billing & Internal Communications Coordinator will have met all the expectations outlined in the job description.
Successful completion of a Certified Medical Billing training program or 5 years of documented medical billing experience, with an understanding of billing software and insurance reimbursements. Ability to enter patient demographics, quickly and accurately. Strong Customer Service skills along with a fluent ability to communicate in English and Spanish languages.
Essential Duties:
- Communicate with patients and help with questions or direct them to appropriate person or departments.
- Answer client inquiries, establish the reason for the call, and resolve issues or refer to the appropriate person.
- Maintain and distribute patient documentation in an organized manner.
- Accurately enter all patient demographics and all other required information into the practice management system.
- Obtain patient registration information and enter into a computer system.
- Identify financial status of patients regarding sliding fee scale, insurance, or discounts. Refer to eligibility as needed.
- Verify third party payer coverage and billing information - insurance, etc.
- Assist with the correction of billing information as needed.
- Prepare financial batches daily for processing.
- Schedule patient appointments for medical providers via the computerized EPM
- Scan or upload documents into electronic health records.
- Knowledge of and participates in Unique Lab Services UDS measures, meaningful use metrics and other quality initiatives by assisting with audits and other data collection.
- Maintain appropriate level of office supplies, medical forms at workstation.
- Assist with problem solving and error resolutions.
- Competent or knowledgeable of multiple specialties and/or departments.
- Maintain medical confidentiality following all HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Communicate in a timely and professional manner with patients and other team members at all times.
- Evaluate problems, situations or issues presented and prioritize workload resolution using critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Five or more years of medical services experience or demonstrated competency with the skills and abilities of this level.
- Minimum three years of medical billing and/ or customer service experience as medical support team associate.
- Familiar with problem solving and research techniques that result in positive client outcomes and conflict resolution.
- Familiar with medical insurance and cash-pay billing activities.
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high-stress and fast-moving environment.
- Effective communication demonstrated by the ability to read, interpret, comprehend, and comply with written and verbal communication.
- Practical mathematical skills for use in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to problem solve in situations both independently or with support from team and/or leadership.
- Adequate to advanced computer efficiency to include Google Workspace and Patient Management System (electronic medical record).
- Ability to communicate in more than one language: Spanish preferred.
- Medical Billing diploma or certification (Preferred).
Work Location: Fully Remote.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts.
