Summary
Serves as telephone operator for three facilities, including two that are remote (Burbank & Glendale) from main office (DTLA). Makes appointments. Assists with documented communication between practice, patients, insurance plans and referring physicians. Heavy phone answering and patient interaction. Some work from home, some work at location. Longer term potential to convert to full-time.
Duties and responsibilities

Securely handles cash payments by patients.

8. Receptionist duties
· Serves as telephone operator for facility; routes incoming-calls and correctly forwards call to voicemail when unable to connect caller to requested party.
· Schedule appointments for all types of patient visits including outside services as needed.
· Cancels or reschedules appointments as necessary.
· Drafts letters and executes form letters as needed by professional staff.
- Prepares charts for upcoming day's appointments.
· Does NOT give medical advice, results or any other medical information to patients or their representatives. Refers the call to nursing staff.
· Ensures that pharmaceutical/equipment representatives do not interfere with patient care or confidentiality.
· Transfers incoming faxes from server to patient chart or prints faxes as necessary.
· Calls appropriate agencies for assistance in case of emergency.
· Performs other miscellaneous office/clerical duties as needed.

Qualifications
Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians.
Ability to promote friendly, professional, favorable facility image with physicians, patients, insurance companies, and general public.
Prior experience prepariing medical records in a clinical environment.
Able to work effectively with minimal supervison both at home and on the job site.
Requirements
Required:
High school diploma or GED certificate
Training or courses in business office activities
Good typing skills
Good communication skills
Good computer skills
Valid California driver's license
Strong ethical and moral character references
Bi-lingual Spanish, English (non-negotiable)
