Job Description
Fulltime Registered Sonographer position with experience in Adult Echocardiography, Stress Echocardiography, and Vascular Ultrasound. The candidate has strong communication skills, is detail-oriented, and can produce quality diagnostic studies for physician interpretation in a busy outpatient clinic.
Education and Experience
- Graduate of an Accredited Echocardiography Program.
- Minimum of three years of experience preferred but we will hire new graduates as well!
- RDCS/RCS required or registry eligible with completion within 6 months of hire
- BLS certification
Skills and Qualifications
- Greets and prepares patients for the appropriate ultrasound procedure. Obtains, reviews, and incorporates pertinent patient history, physician examination, and supporting clinical data to facilitate diagnostic results.
- Performs diagnostic ultrasound exams by producing, assessing, and evaluating quality ultrasound images according to department protocols.
- Provides interpreting physicians with detailed preliminary reports.
- Skill and confidence to communicate effectively to physicians urgent findings that may require immediate medical attention
- Ability to remain calm and react effectively in emergencies.
- Works well independently as well as in a team setting
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public
- Maintains a clean and neat work environment
- Maintains ultrasound equipment and reports any maintenance issues immediately to the Department Supervisor
Knowledge
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic EKG.
- Knowledge of current echocardiography guidelines.
- Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Professional Development
- Attends required Quality Improvement meetings
- Maintains appropriate Continuing Medical Education requirements according to ICAEL and ARDMS/CCI
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations to stay current with changes in the field
Supervision
Reports directly to the Department Supervisor
