Hi, and nice to meet you!! We have a GREAT opportunity for you at OWL Pediatric Dentistry in Bloomingdale, IL!
The position will be responsible for chairside assisting in a pediatric focused- orthodontic practice that specializes in Myofunctional Therapy.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Preparing and maintaining dental instruments & equipment
- Preparation of dental materials; sterilization of instruments, set up instrument trays; bracket set-up
- Prepare patient: prophy with a slow-speed hand piece, etching and sealants; ligature removal and replacement; and wire removal and placement
- Removing excess cement from brackets and orthodontic bands
- Pouring impressions and trimming plaster models for lab and presentation
- Delivering patient oral hygiene instructions
- Record treatment information in patient records
- Inventory control
- Impressions- Digital scan as well as traditional
About Orofacial myofunctional therapy:
- Orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT) addresses the oral structures (lips, tongue, jaw, cheeks and palate) and their impact on swallowing skills and oral rest posture. OMT is based on the neuromuscular re-education or re-patterning of the oral and facial muscles, and includes facial exercises and behavior modification techniques to promote proper tongue position, improved breathing, chewing and swallowing.

Requirements to apply:
- Experience as a Dental Assistant required. Pediatric experience preferred but not required.
- Patient focused with a friendly, warm & at times calming demeanor
- Must be dependable
- Outstanding communication skills
- Possess above-average attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Computer proficient and knowledgeable of dental software
- Comfortable working in a fast paced environment
- Ability to take the initiative and be a pro-active problem solver
- Team-oriented with a focus on the betterment of the team
