Our client specializes in the field of prosthodontics, and is seeking a Dental Assistant to join the team. The Dental Assistant supports dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for the doctor. Other functions include sustaining patient comfort, listening to patients’ needs, and educating them on dental procedures and care, working efficiently to maintain doctor’s schedule while adhering to all OSHA safety policies and procedures.
Essential responsibilities include:
- Escort patients to and from the treatment room by welcoming, seating, and draping the patient.
- Ensure that all patient’s needs are met and any questions are answered during their visit.
- Process insurance claims.
- Schedule and confirm appointments, and other front desk related duties as needed.
- Use an intraoral scanner to take digital impressions.
- Educate patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions.
- Assist with presenting and/or explaining treatment plans.
- Brief lead doctor of high-priority issues, emergencies, and complications on an regular basis.
- Prepare treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Deliver instrumentation and instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; and passing instruments.
- Provide materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to standards and procedures set forth by the American Dental Association and OSHA requirements, which includes, but is not limited to, blood borne pathogen regulations and sterilization procedures.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and adherence to strict confidentiality guidelines set forth by HIPAA and the practice.
- Run diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies; pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
- Execute general dental laboratory functions, including pouring molds, trim models, and mount bite articulators.
- Coordinate outgoing and incoming lab cases, assuring that lab slips and return dates are correct and calling labs for pickups.
- Document dental care services by charting in patient record and post treatment completed at each visit for billing and claims
- Other duties and responsibilities consistent with practice goals and as needed.
Highly qualified candidates will possess most or all of the following:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Dental Assistant program or 1 year dental experience desired.
- Radiology licensed in the State of PA and CPR certified required.
- Prior working knowledge of Dental Electronic Medical Record System, preferred.
- Proven capability to prepare dental equipment and instruments
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate and build relationships with patients in a professional and pleasant manner.
- Adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines for the provision of dental outpatient services and laws regarding dentistry.
- Demonstrate exemplary problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Exemplary organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
- Unconditional ability to maintain patient confidentiality
