Position Summary
The Behavior Specialist will work with classroom staff to implement behavior treatment plans or behavior intervention plans (BIPs) written by the BCBA. The Behavior Specialist will support the implementation of the treatment plan or behavior intervention plan (BIP) by creating behavior support materials, responding to behavior support calls, supporting 1:1/IA staff as requested, and entering behavior data. This position will provide direct support for students when needed.

Responsibilities
- Endorses Gateway Maryland’s mission and vision.
- Understands and demonstrates components of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in order to implement programs and provide support to classroom staff.
- Monitors and models data collection systems related to student behavior; graphs data to share with BCBAs/Behavior Specialists for analysis.
- Implements individual treatment plans for students, including Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), based on plans developed by the BCBA.
- Collects data to monitor the progress and effectiveness of the individualized treatment plan.
- Provides regular written and/or verbal progress updates on treatment goals to BCBA.
- Provides behavior support for classroom staff and collaborates with special educators to support students.
- Provides support to 1:1/IAs on behavior intervention plans as written by the BCBA.
- Completes written fidelity checks for school staff implementing BIPs and behavior supports.
- Supports the BCBA with training school staff on implementing individualized treatment plans.
- Participates in team meetings, training workshops, and professional development sessions.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or related field.
- Completed Master’s degree or enrolled in a Master’s program in ABA.
- Experience working with children, specifically those with disabilities and special communication needs in a school environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to model behavior intervention implementation for staff.
- Ability to receive performance feedback in the moment and in a structured forum for professional growth and clinical skill-building.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proven endeavors toward professional growth and learning.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Suite
- A minimum of two years relevant experience is preferred.
- Ability to lift, push or pull 50 lbs.; sit, stand, or bend for long periods of time.
