Automation Superintendent Job Summary
The Automation Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day execution and completion of field projects for the installation and maintenance of measurement, instrumentation, automation, and communication equipment activities as well as low-voltage electrical and wiring work. This role is critical to the maintenance of maximum Health, Safety, and Environment (EH&S) standards and operational efficiency. The Automation Superintendent will also implement company policies, procedures, and guidelines on field operations.

Company DescriptionThe Automation Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day execution and completion of field projects for the installation and maintenance of measurement, instrumentation, automation, and communication equipment activities as well as low-voltage electrical and wiring work. This role is critical to the maintenance of maximum Health, Safety, and Environment (EH&S) standards and operational efficiency. The Automation Superintendent will also implement company policies, procedures, and guidelines on field operations.
Automation Superintendent Responsibilities
- Assign daily jobs/tasks and supervise the execution of all field operations activities in the assigned area.
- Supervise service personnel and contractors to ensure all work conforms to safety, quality, and highest value requirements in accordance with customer and company programs.
- Day-to-day optimization of activities and provision of first-line action and problem-solving in case of unexpected events.
- Provide sufficient, accurate, and timely business data and employee documentation as required.
- Coordinate the timely supply of required equipment, consumables, and special services to ensure a prompt response.
- Lead by example and promote a high degree of EH&S awareness among subordinates.
- Ensure all near-miss incidents and incidents resulting in injury or damage are reported and investigated.
- Be fully conversant with Company and Contractor Emergency Response Procedures.
- Promote an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect among all personnel.
- Responsible for daily expenditure reporting along with inventory control.
- May assist in interviewing, selecting, and processing applicants.
- Assist in longer-term operational decision-making and perform cost-benefit analysis.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5-10 years’ + experience in Oil & Gas operations specific to Automation and Electrical and their associated equipment.
- Must possess good leadership qualities and serve as a role model for peers and subordinates.
- Strong organization, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Desire to be considered an integral part of the work team, to be treated as a professional, and to contribute creatively to the group's success.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
