1st Shift External Raw Material Grading Coordinator
Oostburg WI
You'll be responsible for inspecting and grading all long hold cheese stored in external warehouses for regrading all bulk order cheese sold to customers, and for regrading all product within specified time limits. Position is responsible for cheese problem solving at raw material vendors and warehouses, as well as management of projects (such as Aged Cheese Program) to maximize company efficiency and profit. Of critical importance to the position, is the ability to effectively communicate at all levels with customers and/or vendors and to promote the company’s reputation so all vendors are managed effectively.
- Grade all long hold bulk and spot buys, maintain ongoing grading program of inventory, and maintain complete grading and quality records.
- Coordinate weekly vendor grading appointments and monitor vendor commitments.
- Meet with customers, as needed to understand their expectations.
- Foster and enhance Masters Gallery Foods relationship to help solidify long-term growth.
- Troubleshoot cheese performance issues.
- Monitor temperature controls of all outside storage facilities.
- Develop and manage Aged Cheese Program.
- Conduct research and development on new production opportunities.
- Will back up all graders’ vacations at Masters Gallery Foods in Plymouth and Oostburg.
- Coordinate with the lab to complete Certificate of Analysis.
- Conduct technical training for required production staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Raw Materials Grading Supervisor, Director of Grading and Cheese Quality, and/or Vice President of Food Safety/Quality Systems and Product Development.
What You Can Offer
- The ability to possess a Wisconsin Department of Agriculture Cheese License for American Cheese. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Post-secondary education is preferred.
- A minimum of four years of experience in the dairy industry, with experience in cheese grading or laboratory work desired.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to forecast future cheese attributes.
- Ability to assess quality and be firm in decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with internal staff, outside vendors, outside Warehouse personnel, and external Quality staff.
- Good organizational skills and analytical ability.
- Ability to problem solve and negotiate solutions under diverse conditions.
- Ability to travel to outside storage facilities and Plymouth facility on an as needed basis.
