Job Description
I. Organizational Overview
Philadelphia Youth Basketball, Inc. (PYB), officially launched in June of 2015, is a community-built youth development and community empowerment organization that leverages the iconic game of basketball to help today’s urban youth overcome the most urgent and systemic issues facing underserved communities. A diverse and impassioned group of individuals, including leaders from the grass-roots to the tree tops, have been working diligently to execute this mission by building an impactful program, a robust and sustainable organization, and ultimately the world-class Alan Horwitz “Sixth Man” Center to help uplift thousands of children, youth, and families for generations to come.

II. Primary Scope of Duties
The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for supporting the execution of marketing and communications strategies under the guidance of the Marketing & Communications Manager. This role involves creating content, coordinating marketing activities, and ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms. The Coordinator will work closely with the Manager, who will review, provide feedback, and finalize all communications before dissemination.
The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Content Creation and Management:
- Develop and draft content for various platforms, including newsletters, social media, and
websites. - Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure all content aligns with
brand guidelines and organizational goals. - Update and maintain content calendars to ensure timely delivery of marketing activities.
- Under guidance of the Marketing & Communications Manager, capture content from PYB
programming, including photos and video.
- Email Marketing:
- Create e-blasts and newsletters based on strategic direction and guidelines provided by the Marketing & Communications Manager, and supplemented with information from PYB’s Program Team, Earned Revenue Team, and Development Team.
- Implement edits and feedback from the Manager to refine communications.
- Coordinate with the Manager to schedule and distribute finalized email communications.
- Keep track of audience lists in email database to ensure different groups are getting different content dependent on their PYB involvement.
- Brand Collateral:
- Assist in the design and development of marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, posters, and other promotional items.
- Ensure all brand collateral is consistent with the organization's visual identity and messaging standards.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for the production of printed materials as needed.
- Maintain an organized library of all brand assets and ensure they are easily accessible for
team use.
- Social Media Support:
- Assist in developing and executing social media posts to enhance engagement and reach.
- Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, and engage with the community in line with brand voice and guidelines.
- Track social media performance and provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Event Coordination:
- Assist with the planning and execution of event materials and promotional activities as directed by the Events Manager, under the guidance of the Marketing & Communications Manager
III. Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Dispositions
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, film, or a related field, and/or equal experience (1-3 years) in content creation, video editing, and photo editing in a marketing or similar role.
- Proficiency with video and photo editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, and Lightroom.
- Proficiency with graphic design creation software such as Canva, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Strong storytelling abilities with a creative approach to content creation.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and trends.
- Familiarity with marketing strategies and principles.
IV. Compensation and Perks
This position will have a salary range of $48,600 - $53,000 commensurate with experience.
