Position Description Summary:
The Communications, Marketing, and Design Coordinator operates in three primary areas: communications, marketing, and public relations. The coordinator works to communicate the Association’s key messages and market its programs, products and services, which support the Strategic Plan, to members and other target audiences. This includes supporting the development and execution of member marketing and communications plans, public relations outreach (through traditional and social media), providing editorial assistance for the Association’s academic Journal, the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education (AJPE) and its magazine, Academic Pharmacy Now, and other general communications support. The coordinator assists with the creation, production, and delivery of Association materials, which include editorial and graphic design assets. This position frequently collaborates with other teams and departments, as well as with members at colleges and schools of pharmacy. Administrative duties include but are not limited to scheduling meetings, shipping conference materials, maintaining project digital files, and providing assistance to the Communications staff.
Essential Functions/Tasks:
Coordinates Marketing and Communications Projects
- Support the execution of new and existing communications and marketing plans by writing persuasive marketing copy, for both email and social strategies, creating program web pages, tracking marketing metrics and analytics, and developing digital media assets such as graphics, animation and video. Utilize innovative tools to generate content, such as video apps, web stories (i.e. Adobe Spark), gifs, etc. for digital platforms.
- Continuously scan and review multiple sources for Academic Pharmacy Now magazine content, including but not limited to member institution news, national, local and trade media outlets, key stakeholder groups, and internal marketing sources.
- Maintain media relations contact databases, including trade press and consumer media press contacts--and maintain database of communications department contacts at member institutions.
- Create and manage social media content for the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education on Twitter and LinkedIn.
- Coordinate and execute distribution of twice-monthly e- Newsletter (E-lert) to members.
- Coordinate and execute distribution of monthly Career e-Newsletter.
- Research and write copy for association press releases as needed.
Graphic Design Assistance
- Draft layouts for print materials such as brochures, flyers, or business cards using design software like Adobe Illustrator or InDesign.
- Create graphic designs for websites and social media pages based on staff input.
- Assist in the design of marketing pieces for AACP and its affiliated brands.
- Design slide templates for meetings and slide presentations for Communications team initiatives.
- Source images in stock photo libraries and maintains the AACP font and graphic libraries.
- Help create short-form, animated video presentations.
Administrative Support
- Coordinate and schedule virtual or in-person meetings between Communications team members and other staff.
- Pack and ship communications items (i.e., print materials) for AACP meetings and conferences.
- Maintain communications department inventory.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Business, or a related field required.
- At least 1-3 years of experience in a related field, preference for experience working for a non-profit association/organization.
- Knowledge of the latest marketing best-practices and trends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
- Strong customer service attitude for both internal and external clients. Candidate must thrive on handling multiple projects while maintaining a strong customer focus.
- Must flourish in a team environment and learn quickly.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft® Office applications (Word, Excel, Access).
- Fluency with InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator CC.
