Our client is seeking a bright and eager candidate for a full-time Tax Manager position in their Wilmington, NC office. The position requires 4 to 5 years of experience and is hybrid, with 3 days in the office. Relocation must be within the city/state radius, and the candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident. The salary range is $100k to $140k.

This role involves direct collaboration with our tax department, serving a variety of clients including individuals, businesses, not-for-profit organizations, trusts, and various other entities.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepare individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns
• Communicate with clients to gather supporting documents
• Identify tax problems and develop solutions
• Provide innovative tax planning and review complex income tax returns
• Supervise tax team members to ensure accurate tax return completion
• Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate effects to management and the tax team, and create strategies to capitalize on changes
• Prepare/review technical tax memorandums
• Communicate with tax authorities to resolve notices
• Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process
• Train and mentor staff on procedures and policies

Required Qualifications:

• BS/BA in Accounting (Master’s in Accounting/Tax preferred)
• 5 to 8 years’ experience in Public Accounting
• Experience preparing individual and closely held businesses and pass-thru (S Corp and Partnership) tax returns
• Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and budgets
• Proficient accounting, analytical, and research skills with a desire to continue professional growth
• Ability to communicate pertinent information to partners, managers, and clients
• Willingness to work with a team and complete administrative tasks when required

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA License or Candidate
• Experience with QuickBooks
• Experience with high net-worth individual and multi-state tax returns
• Experience preparing exempt organization tax returns
