YOUR DAY TO DAY:
You are an experienced and strategic Senior Supply Chain Manager who will lead our supply chain operations and manage a dedicated team of buyers. This role is perfect for a seasoned professional with a strong background in industrial manufacturing procurement, particularly in purchasing raw materials such as steel sheets, aluminum, and piping. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire supply chain process, from procurement and inventory management to distribution and logistics, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
- Leadership and Team Management: Supervise and provide direction to the supply chain team, including buyers and related positions. Foster a cohesive, high-performing team environment.
- Supplier and Customer Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers to ensure reliable supply chain operations and customer satisfaction.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business goals, focusing on meeting customer needs and optimizing operations.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels to maintain optimal stock levels, reduce excess inventory, and prevent stockouts.
- Data Analysis and Continuous Improvement: Analyze supply chain data to identify areas for improvement, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and enhance overall efficiency.
- Contract Negotiations: Lead contract negotiations with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms, pricing, and compliance with all regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with government regulations and company policies.
- Policy Development: Define and enhance stocking and purchasing policies to streamline operations and reduce costs.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Provide direction for the purchasing, customer service, shipping, and receiving departments. Oversee production scheduling to ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders.
- Cost Reduction Initiatives: Drive continuous improvements aimed at increasing customer satisfaction, reducing inventory costs, and optimizing purchasing processes.
- Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as needed to support the supply chain and broader organizational goals.
YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:
- Management Experience: Proven experience in managing a supply chain team, with a track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Contractual Expertise: Extensive experience in contract negotiations, including pricing and key terms and conditions.
- Industrial Manufacturing Procurement Experience: Prior experience in industrial manufacturing is required; aerospace or defense is desired.
- Proven Track Record in Cost Reduction: Demonstrated success in reviewing and optimizing the entire supply chain to identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Process Improvement: Strong experience in process analysis, applying best procurement practices, and driving continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, particularly in identifying root causes and understanding the impact on manufacturing processes.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
- Technical Proficiency: High competency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
- Analytical Skills: Strong mathematical and analytical skills to resolve issues related to inventory management, premium freight, and other supply chain challenges.
- Travel capabilities up to 15-20% (domestic) for supplier visits.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree: Required in a related field, such as Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in supply chain management or procurement, preferably in industrial manufacturing. A Master’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is also acceptable.
