Overview:

Xentity Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our team to support a cloud-based conservation analytics platform. This position is crucial for developing and managing high-performance Postgres databases and requires expertise in data engineering, ETL processing, and geospatial data analytics. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in working with both front-end and back-end open-source technologies and will play a critical role in ensuring the platform's efficiency and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

• 12+ years of IT experience with a strong focus on data engineering concepts including ETL processing, data warehousing, schema design, and data modeling.
• 3+ years of experience using PostgreSQL to support high-performance data analytics platforms.
• 3+ years of experience in PostgreSQL data tuning and permissions management.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Experience with Git for code repository management.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, environmental science, or related field.
• Proficiency in ESRI's ArcGIS suite of software.
• Strong understanding of spatial data concepts, including projections, coordinate systems, and data formats.
• Experience with Python programming for data analysis and automation.
• Familiarity with Safe Software FME and VertiGIS is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while interfacing with clients.

Preferred:

• Experience working with NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service) conservation datasets.
• Experience leveraging PostGIS for geospatial integration and automation.
• Proficiency in using QGIS and ESRI for visualizing geospatial data.
• Experience publishing services and creating web mapping applications using open-source or ESRI web mapping platforms.
• Experience with FME model development.
• Proficiency in Python programming.
• SAFe certification or experience working in an Agile environment.

Job Goal:

• First 30 days: Familiarize with the company's data infrastructure and ongoing projects, and engage in team meetings and training sessions.
• First 60 days: Start contributing to ongoing projects under supervision and begin independently handling small-scale tasks.
• First 90 days: Take ownership of assigned projects and deliverables, and provide assistance and guidance to junior team members.
• First Year: Lead projects independently and continuously improve data engineering workflows and methodologies.
