ABOUT THE JOB:
As a GNC Developer you will be designing, building, testing aircraft capabilities for a range of public and private customers. They are expected to take responsibility for the navigation solutions that meet our aircraft requirements. The GNC Developers work within the software & sensors department under the supervision of the department director.
Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) system design, development, integration and test requires a motivated, talented engineer to take the lead on this multifaceted functional area. The GNC Developer will work on a range of aircraft and will develop state of the art flight navigation and guidance algorithms, create integrated guidance and navigation systems, perform mission planning and analysis, execute system performance analyses, and implement simulation solutions to support our customers. The GNC Developer will have visibility across the industry into modern navigation and simulation development methods to integrate into Toofon aircraft.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Prior Experience: Must have 3+ years of experience in software development
Computer Skills: Linux, C++/CMake, Python, VSCode for C++
Technical Skills: Manage codebases relevant to flight, design/code flight features, manage & develop navigation systems.
Industry-Specific Knowledge: Development, implementation of software, sensors, and data in Unmanned Aerial Systems
Preferred: Strong leadership skills and independent learner
Language Skills: English
Other: High energy level required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Apply engineering principles, industry standards, company process, and knowledge of vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, propulsion, classical/modern control, and estimation theory to perform tasks to advanced program/project goals.
Perform guidance, navigation, and state estimation component trade studies (including make/buy trades and supplier identification/research). These components may include but are not limited to lidars, GPS receivers, optical sensors, IR cameras, and more.
Design, analyze and guide others in the development of navigation systems, simulations, models, tools and analysis techniques.
Implement navigation algorithms in flight software and support flight software qualification testing.
Perform analysis to support early design phase concept development including actuator sizing and placement, sensor selection and placement, and predicted performance assessments.
Analyze and test the aircraft navigation subsystem performance using simulations and other analytic tools.
Work with the team to integrate and test all aircraft navigation components.
Document designs, analysis, and test results and create presentation materials.
You will participate in navigation tasks including system trade studies, component modeling of inertial measurement units (IMU), global positioning systems (GPS), as well as simulation of navigation algorithms, particularly Kalman filters.
You will work with embedded software including real-time GNC algorithm development for UAS products.
Perform a wide variety of complex trade studies to identify and recommend solutions to problems and issues.
Lead mission planning and analyses to define aircraft trajectories and performance requirements.
Develop and integrate navigation & guidance algorithms to support mission and trajectory needs.
Create models, simulations and tools to support navigation system development and analysis.
