Overview
The Tax Manager plays a crucial role in the organization by overseeing all tax-related matters and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. They are responsible for developing and implementing tax strategies to optimize the organization's tax position while mitigating risks. The Tax Manager also provides guidance on business transactions, participates in financial planning, and assists in the preparation and review of tax filings.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee tax compliance and reporting processes
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to maximize tax efficiencies
- Provide guidance on tax implications of business decisions and transactions
- Conduct tax research and analysis to ensure compliance with changing tax laws
- Prepare and review various tax filings, including income tax, sales tax, and property tax returns
- Collaborate with external auditors and tax authorities during tax audits and inquiries
- Assist in financial planning by providing tax projections and estimates
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of all tax returns and payments
- Review financial statements and reports for accuracy and tax implications
- Manage and mentor tax team members, providing guidance and support
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax developments and assess potential impact
- Participate in the implementation of tax software and tools to enhance efficiency
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
- Contribute to strategic planning by providing insights on tax-related opportunities and risks
- Prepare and present tax reports and findings to senior management
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or Master's in Taxation preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in tax compliance and planning
- Deep understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis and tax reporting
- Proven track record in managing and leading tax teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in tax software and MS Office, particularly Excel
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm
- Ability to adapt to changes and embrace continuous learning in the tax field
- Strategic mindset and ability to provide proactive tax advice
- Strong ethics and integrity in handling sensitive financial information
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
