Axiom Consultants, a Ruekert & Mielke Company, is seeking a motivated Engineer-in-Training/Graduate-Level Structural Engineer to join our dynamic Structural Team within our Building Services division based out of our Iowa City, IA office. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented group of building design consultants and to develop your skills under the guidance of our experienced Structural Lead. Candidate will be responsible for:

• Conducting existing building walkdowns and property condition assessments.
• Performing construction site visits and assisting with historic rehabilitation projects.
• Reviewing structural codes
• Providing contractor RFI/ITC assistance.
• Assisting with geotechnical sub coordination and integration.
• Designing structural elements including foundation, dimensional lumber, engineered lumber, structural steel, masonry, and light gauge steel.
• Preparing construction documents using Autodesk Revit
• Reviewing structural shop drawings
• Structural systems modeling (RISA).
• Assisting with specification writing
• Supplier coordination
• Preparing field reports and draft memorandums
• Punchlist walkdowns.
• Engaging in internal and external progress meetings and support project management tasks.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with Structures Emphasis
• Prior experience with engineering design, Revit drafting, structural calculation software, and field investigations is a significant plus.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, RISA 3D, RISA Floor, RISA Foundation, EnerCalc, and other structural analysis software is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a field and office environment.
• Commitment to obtaining PE licensure with mentorship support from our team.
