Position Summary:

The Diet Aide assists the Clinical Dietitian with the nutritional care of patients in accordance with the physician’s diagnosis and diet prescription.  The Diet Aide processes diet orders and other diet information, obtains nutritional lists from the computer program, screens patients to identify those at nutritional risk, and modifies therapeutic menus according to standard guidelines. Assists with meal selections and verifies that patient menu & meal selections comply with diet description.  Acts as a liaison between Nutrition Resources, Nursing and the patient.  Monitors food service procedures and programs to assure adherence to quality patient food presentation and therapeutic dietary guidelines.  Assists in providing basic diet education in-services to the Nutrition Resources staff. Visits the patients, their families, caretakers, and nursing staff to assess the patient’s food preferences and requirements. 

Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year experience with therapeutic diets. Six months food service experience or school supervised student work program. Excellent communication skills.

Requires High School Diploma or GED
