Job Description
Coeur d'Alene Pediatrics is seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time (32 hours/week) Nurse Practitioner (FNP or PNP) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for patient care. We provide comprehensive medical services to children from birth through young adult, including guidance on mental and physical growth and development by performing the following duties:
Duties and Responsibilities
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for performing a variety of functions, including, but not limited to:
- Reviews patient file/record, including allergies, problems, medications, well-child visits, and immunization status.
- Elicits and records information about patient's medical, developmental, social, and family history.
- Examines patient to determine general physical condition or presence of disease or injury.
- Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition.
- Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination, and diagnoses condition of patient.
- Administers or prescribes treatments as needed.
- Determines and prescribes medication, dosage, and schedule given the patient's condition and allergies.
- Prescribes and administers vaccinations to immunize patient from communicable diseases.
- Discusses any possible side effects to medication or immunization with parent or patient.
- Refers patients to medical specialist for consultant services when necessary for patient's well-being.
- Follows up with patient or parent regarding progress in high risk or emergency cases.
- Establishes preventive health practices.
- Provides guidance to parent and patient regarding nutrition, safety, discipline, injury, and disease prevention.
- Provides educational materials or resources to parent or patient.
- Documents the patient's visit including medical history, physical exam, diagnoses, and plan of action.
- Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school.
- Communicates and coordinates with nurses and other members of the clinical team.
- Performs minor in-office procedures.
Requirements
- Applicants must have a valid Nurse Practitioner License in the state of Idaho, in addition to being Board Certified.
- Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.)
- All Coeur d'Alene Pediatrics providers are required to be BLS and PALS certified. Course fees are reimbursed to employees and re-certification is required every two years.
- Must be able to perform work at any of the three office locations (Coeur d'Alene, Hayden, and Post Falls), as needed and be available for some evening and Saturday shifts.
