Job Title: Medical Authorization Specialist (Full-Time)

Responsibilities:
Imaging Authorization Processing:
Manage and facilitate the authorization process for scheduled imaging exams, working closely with insurance providers to obtain necessary authorizations in a timely manner.
Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all authorization-related activities in compliance with industry standards and organizational protocols.
Insurance Eligibility and Benefits:
Verify patients' insurance eligibility and benefits to accurately determine coverage for scheduled imaging exams.
Clearly explain patients' insurance benefits, including coverage details and potential financial responsibility, to help them make informed decisions regarding their healthcare.
Patient Education and Engagement:
Educate patients on how their benefits apply to their scheduled imaging exams, helping them understand their financial responsibility and any potential out-of-pocket costs.
Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patients' inquiries, concerns, and requests related to imaging authorizations and insurance coverage.
Pre-Registration and Data Entry:
Assist with pre-registration processes, ensuring accurate collection and entry of patient information into the electronic health record system (Epic experience is a plus).
Collaborate with administrative staff to streamline the pre-registration process and enhance patient satisfaction.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with healthcare providers, radiology teams, and administrative staff to coordinate and communicate imaging authorization details, patient information, and scheduling needs.
Maintain open communication channels with insurance companies to expedite authorization processes and address any issues promptly.
Qualifications:
1+ years of experience working in patient intake, authorizations, or scheduling.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or relevant experience in healthcare administration is a plus.
Previous experience in medical authorization processing, particularly in imaging, is highly beneficial.
Familiarity with insurance verification, benefits explanation, and patient liability assessment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex information in an easily understandable manner to patients.
Experience with Epic or other electronic health record systems preferred.
