Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough assessments of students to identify physical therapy needs and develop individualized therapy plans. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to gather relevant information and set therapy goals.
Therapy and Intervention: Provide direct physical therapy services to students, including the design and implementation of individualized and group therapy sessions. Focus on improving students' motor skills, coordination, strength, and overall physical function.
Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to integrate physical therapy goals into the students' educational programs. Offer guidance and support to school staff on physical acmodations and modifications.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, therapy sessions, and IEP goals. Prepare and submit reports and documentation in pliance with district and state regulations.
Professional Development: Stay current with advancements in physical therapy and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities. Attend relevant meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Student Advocacy: Advocate for students physical therapy needs and ensure that they receive appropriate support and acmodations. Work to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Qualifications:
Education: Doctorate or Masters degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
Certification: Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist in North Carolina. Board Certification in Pediatric Physical Therapy is a plus.
Experience: Previous experience working in a school setting is preferred. Experience with a diverse student population and a variety of physical therapy needs is advantageous.
Skills: Strong assessment and diagnostic skills, excellent munication and interpersonal abilities, and a collaborative approach to working with students, families, and school staff. Ability to manage a diverse caseload and maintain organized records.
