Job Description
Summary: This position has primary responsibility for data gathering before development of a database. Design, develop, test, implement and maintain new and existing databases. Create management methods and systems to access efficiently the information stored in databases. Work with members of the company to improve processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Design database schema and data models at the direction of management that adhere to industry best practices.
• Formally and informally present design ideas to peers and management for discussion and approval.
• Document all new designs.
• Help to establish SOPs and standards for the overall improvement of data quality and work efficiency.
• Provide training to other developers on proper usage of new schema.
• Provide technical guidance to team-mates and other developers as needed.
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree desired in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Microsoft SQL server
• Minimum 2 years experience in database indexing strategies, performance tuning and optimization, and creation and maintenance of stored procedures
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to assist in planning, estimating and implementing projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail is mandatory
Desired Skills
o Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2
o Microsoft SSRS reporting
o Jaspersoft reporting
o Analytical thinking
o Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical staff.
o Displays competent judgment to inform leadership of problems and concerns
