Seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year in Phoenix, AZ. The contracted TVI will work within the educational system to provide specialized instruction and support for students with visual impairments. Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students' visual abilities and educational needs.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students' unique needs and goals.
- Provide direct instruction in skills such as braille reading and writing, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology use.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to ensure coordinated support for students with visual impairments.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Valid Arizona teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairment.
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) from an accredited program.
- At least one year of recent experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in an educational setting.
- Proficiency in braille and knowledge of assistive technology for individuals with visual impairments.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
