A Sitter is an intervention utilized for patients who are presently in danger to themselves or to others. A Sitter provides observation that provides safety to certain types of patients in accordance with the patient's needs.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains observation of patient according to patient needs.
- May perform rounds/observations on units including but not limited to safety, quiet at night and comfort rounds.
- Reports behavioral changes or verbalizations of self-harm/harm to others to nursing staff.
- A nursing assistant in the role of a Sitter may provide patient care as outlined in the nursing assistant job description.
Shift: Various shifts, 8 or 12 hour shifts. Rotating days, weekends, and holidays.
Hours per Week: FT 36-40 hours, Part Time 16-32 hours
