Job Summary
The plant industrial engineer will assess, evaluate, and provide recommendations for improvements in relation to manufacturing quality, product flow, and production efficiency. This coach will use a variety of lean manufacturing tools and concepts to map all inputs and outputs of a defined process while working with department leaders to implement recommendations and drive change. This person will need to be able to establish strong cross-functional relationships quickly and have a passion for a positive customer and associate experience as well as lead the coaching efforts of servicing agents.
Responsibilities
Leadership/ Safety
- Leads process improvement initiatives through leading, motivating, and influencing project teams.
- Represents and encourages a continuous improvement culture within the site.
- Create developmental plans for associates by first identifying opportunities for their improvement.
- Communicates daily feedback and formal project reviews.
- Communicates effectively and respectfully with all levels of the company.
- Works closely with associates as a coach to help them improve and/ or add to skill set as needed for overall site efficiency.
- Trains high potential candidates on how to conduct an effective Kaizen event.
- Engages and influences 5S practices.
- Influences buy-in for safety by recognizing, adhering to, and including safety standards in continuous improvement projects and their implementation.
Quality/ Delivery/ Cost
- Creates and executes processes to analyze opportunities and strengths of the department as well as individuals.
- Is a change agent in recommending solutions to improve quality, procedures, training, and coaching initiatives, and implements approved recommendations.
- Creates quality parameters within plans/projects to ensure accurate quality measurements and tools are implemented.
- Partners with Quality team to ensure timely and accurate remediation.
- Conducts effective Kaizen events that produce cost improvements quarter over quarter.
- Defines and oversees continuous improvement projects using the Lean Six Sigma DMAIC framework to eliminate re-work, provide cost savings, increase revenues, and increase customer satisfaction within the site.
Qualifications
- 4-year college degree from an accredited university in Industrial Engineering.
- Green belt certified preferred.
- Must be proficient with Minitab or similar statistical analysis software
- Must be familiar with and have experience deploying Lean Six Sigma and quality improvement tools
- 2+ years of leadership experience
