Aegis Worldwide is currently seeking a Controls Engineer for a leading manufacturer and distributor in Chicago, IL 60633. This person will play a vital role in developing, implementing, and maintaining projects, along with providing maintenance training, procedures, and processes for electrical apparatuses, instrumentation, and controls to ensure the plant operates safely, reliably, and cost-effectively.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related degree in engineering is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a Control Engineer, Automation Engineer, Instrumentation Engineering or Electrical Engineering role
- Ability to program PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.
- Experience and knowledge of the following: pH, flow, temperature, pressure, conductivity and mass measurements, electrical heat tracing, AC and DC control methods, 24V-13.8KV electrical systems and troubleshooting, VFDs, smart meters, PLC/DCS control methods, automated systems, control valves, one-line electrical diagrams, blueprint reading, mathematics, and preventive/predictive maintenance technologies
- Experience working in a PSM/RMP facility
- Experience working at a Chemical, Pharmaceutical, or Medical Manufacturer is a PLUS.
Responsibilities:
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining projects, along with providing maintenance training, procedures, and processes for electrical apparatuses, instrumentation, and controls to ensure the plant operates safely, reliably, and cost-effectively.
- Managing work priorities, engaging resources to develop standards, identifying training opportunities, and recommending asset selection and installation criteria.
- Provides technical support to the maintenance supervisor, who oversees the performance of electrical and instrumentation technicians and contractors, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, reliability, quality, efficiency, and cost control.
- Planning and prioritizing activities, guiding maintenance personnel in testing and repairs, ensuring conformance to standards, coordinating inventory with the storeroom clerk, approving material purchases, and overseeing technician training and contractor qualifications.
- Spend a good amount of time programming and troubleshooting the equipment in the plant.
