OSP is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Sr. Payroll Specialist to join our team. As a Sr. Payroll Specialist, you will be an influential part of the business by partnering closely with affiliate companies, managing multiple payrolls across multiple states, and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this role will collaborate closely with HR, and other departments to operate and maintain seamless payroll operations.
This role is full-time and on-site at our headquarters in Edina, MN.
What you’ll do
- Calculate and process employee wages, bonuses, commissions, and deductions accurately.
- Verify timekeeping records and resolve discrepancies as needed with managers.
- Process new hires, terminations, and changes to employee payroll information.
- Ensure employees are set up for accurate payroll tax withholdings and process amendments as needed.
- Audit employee benefits and vendor bills for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
- Generate payroll reports as required.
- Assist in year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and reporting.
- Provide support during audits and assist in preparing documentation as required.
- Collaborate with CHRO and leadership to improve payroll processes and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of payroll activities.
- Respond to payroll queries from employees, managers, and affiliate businesses.
- Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and taxes at local, state, and federal levels.
What you’ll bring
- 5-7 years of full cycle payroll processing or accounting experience for multiple companies
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred, but not required
- Strong payroll systems skills: prior experience with Paylocity, Paychex, ADP, or Ceridian required
- Strong Excel skills: Pivot tables, V-Lookups, filters, etc.
- Excellent logic and analytical abilities
- Strong organization aptitude and attention to detail
- Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws
- Demonstrated reliability with excellent time-management skills
- Works well under the pressure of deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
