Specific Duties - Clinical Psychologist. The healthcare worker (HCW) shall provide services within the scope of their competencies including:
1. Administer programs of treatment to mentally and emotionally disturbed individuals; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
2. Assist in treating rehabilitation patients.
3. Treat individuals in times of personal crisis such as a divorce or death of a loved one.
4. Interview patients and study medical and social case histories.
5. Diagnose and evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals and administer programs of treatment.
6. The HCWs participate as requested in the clinical psychology internship and postdoctoral fellowship programs offered through the Mental Health Department (for no more than 25% of the Provider time). This participation may take the form of direct proctoring of trainees performing clinical activities, provision of didactic presentations, and/or participation in training committee meetings and other committee activities. Additionally, the psychologist participates in approved research projects when requested to do so by professional staff of the Psychology Department.
7. Perform clinical evaluations including administration and interpretation of psychological, neuropsychological, cognitive and personality tests, and provide clinical consultation regarding selection of psychological tests. The HCW may also be required to administer neuropsychological assessments and perform clinical evaluation and/or referral based on the neuropsychological assessment tool.
8. Communicate with family members and significant others in order to further the effectiveness of patient treatment and progress.
9. Provide a full range of child and adolescent clinical psychologist duties.
10. Provide consultation, differential diagnosis, and treatment planning for all disorders defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders for children, adolescents, and adult family members.
