Overview:
The Controller is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and recordkeeping activities of the organization. Collaborating closely with company leadership and other finance professionals, the Controller oversees general accounting operations, performs complex accounting tasks, reconciles accounts, and produces monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Additionally, the Controller helps prepare information for external accounting audits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly managing the day-to-day operations of all financial departments
- Monitoring and reviewing the General Ledger for accuracy
- Manages/leads filing of cost reports and other related government-required reports or filings.
- Tracking and reporting all cash for the hospital, ensuring proper management by accounting for cash sources and use
- Ensuring proper entry documentation of journal entries
- Serving as a liaison for all financial audits, including developing an internal audit system to eliminate errors
- Responsible for the timely completion of monthly and year-end closings.
- Maintains compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and governing regulatory protocol.
- Ensures all policies, procedures, and initiatives are managed in compliance with HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
- Performs other job duties as directed or required to meet the needs of the department and the organization
- Must be willing to travel to facilities
Required Skills and
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, or Finance required. MBA Preferred
- 5+ years of healthcare accounting experience,
- 3+ years of management experience
Qualifications:
- Microsoft Suite experience (Advanced Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- QuickBooks experience preferred
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.
- Professionalism and a mature sense of accountability.
- Ability to work in a demanding environment and learn quickly.
- Ability to research and seek out information.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Ability to remain flexible and respond to changing
