The Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a part-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our growing CRNA-only practice at Black River Memorial Hospital. The CRNA will be joining a team of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists. This position is also unique in that it offers the opportunity to practice independently and see a broad case mix that includes General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Endoscopy, Podiatry, Ophthalmology, and Urology. This position is:
- Part-time, 64 hours per pay period, eight-hour shifts with no call

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Completes pre-operative/pre-procedural care including patient education and counseling; comprehensive history and physical examination; pre-anesthesia assessment and evaluation; development of a comprehensive patient-specific plan for anesthesia, analgesia, multi-modal pain management, and recovery; obtaining informed consent; selection, ordering, prescribing and administering pre-anesthetic medications, including controlled substances.
- Completes intraoperative and intraprocedural care including implementation of a patient-specific care plan which may involve anesthetic techniques, such as general, regional, and local anesthesia, sedation, and multimodal pain management.
- Completes postoperative and postprocedural care including facilitation of emergence and recovery from anesthesia; selection, ordering, prescribing, and administering post-anesthetic medications, including controlled substances.
- Provides obstetric services including placement and management of labor epidurals, intrathecal, provision of anesthetic care for c-sections, versions, and other necessary obstetric services.
- Orders, evaluates and interprets laboratory and radiological studies (chest x-ray, 12 lead ECG, TEE, etc.)
- Performs advanced airway management and point-of-care testing.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesiology Program with a master’s degree, doctoral degree preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree is considered based on years of experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of anesthesia care in an acute care setting is required
- Valid state RN license (must meet education requirements for state licensure)
- Valid APRN recognition (must meet education requirements for state recognition and obtain within 6 months of hire
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA)
- Certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association
- Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the professional rescuer certification
- NRP and PALS certifications are highly encouraged within one year of employment
