Blazer Jobs is currently seeking an experienced Learning Behavioral Specialist for a full-time position within school districts in the Lansing, Illinois area. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on students' lives by providing specialized support and interventions in a dynamic and collaborative educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Provide direct support and instruction to students with behavioral challenges, utilizing evidence-based strategies and interventions.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) to identify the root causes of behavioral issues and inform intervention strategies.
- Monitor and document students progress, adjusting interventions as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss students progress, challenges, and strategies for support at home.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education, Behavioral Science, or a related field.
- Certification: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in Learning Behavioral Specialist (LBS1).
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a Learning Behavioral Specialist or in a similar role.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of behavior management techniques, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
Local and State Requirements:
- Must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsement.
- Completion of a state-approved educator preparation program in special education or a related field.
- Compliance with all Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) certification requirements, including ongoing professional development and continuing education.
- Successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting as required by the state of Illinois.
